By popular demand, we present the new lost Dunlavy episode. Longtime listeners know that Darren and Duncan originally recorded 10 podcasts before publishing the very first one, as practice. One of those, referenced in early talks about the guys' dearly beloved Dunlavy speakers, was a thorough explanation of how they landed them for free, and insights gleaned from owning them. As requested, the guys do another complete Dunlavy-focused episode, but this time with new insights and a lot more info about the eponymous designer, John Dunlavy. The album recommendation pulls out a gem from a very talented young person's already swelling discography.

Blake Mills is not just a guitarist. And you can’t really pin a genre on him.

What he is is one of the hottest producers on the scene right now, and his creative talents span a range that has produced some of the coolest and most full-range sound design, utilizing state-of-the-art tools, in his own art and in collaboration,

One of the latter variety has already made our list, his duo with legendary bass player Pino Palladino which was called Notes With Attachments.

Here, we get Blake all by himself in the memorable Mutable Set, but the sonic tapestry he weaves invokes anything but a solo work. “May Later” and “Window Facing a Window” are easy favorites, but the whole set is excellent.

The HiFi Podcast is hosted by Darren Myers and Duncan Taylor, two friends connected through the love of high fidelity.
